Photographer’s Note

I had a look at the photo and wanted to process it differently from what i had done earlier. I think this completely black and white one has more of an old world feel to it. Also i changed the framing. Hope you like it.

A photograph taken on a late Friday evening on the Santa Monica Pier in Los Angeles. It is one of the most popular hang out places in LA for families and as such is almost synonymous with LA. Generally the pier is so overrun with tourists and locals alike that its extremely rare to find a spot like this with relatively few people. I loved the lights and since i got a shot with relatively less people, I tried to give it a retro feel.

amazing to see almost no human invasion in a place like SM pier considering that it was a friday night, huh?!! what time was this shot taken, vivek? i like the compo and the different mood you present to us about this famed place.

I really enjoy the atmosphere of this photo. The dark tones work well, and I really enjoy the lens distortion. The light and the vendor balance each other out nicely. Very engaging photo! Well done!

yes vivek, i completely agree with you that b/w composition is going well with the mood of this night scene. good capture of the repetitive lamp post, which is, it seems to me, a characteristic of your pics. the only think that you can improve is the dof by increasing 1 or 2 higher f point and correspondingly longer shutter speed. tfs.
