Photographer’s Note
Third in the series on the elephants in the Pinnewala elephant orphanage.
The Pinnewala Elephant Orphanage in Sri Lanka is located about 30 kms from Kandy. This orphanage houses about 80 elephants of all ages from really cute and inquisitive babies to mature and aging pachyderms. There is an entry fee for visiting this place and for some "tips" one can actually feed the elephants some milk and also help them with their daily bath. This particular photo was shot during when the elephants were in the river for their bath.
One of the most over rated experiences is lunch in one of the places by the river that pride themselves on their mediocre spread and even worse service while being privy to the elephants bath. Just walking up to the river and watching the elephants antics in the water would probably have been an enriching experience by itself.

The tight shape of the group, allows you to make a tight and strong composition, Vivek. It is a rare opportunity to find so many elephant in a wild setting and it has allowed you to set tehm in a wonderful composition. Regards kevin

The POV on this picture is excellent as it shows well a large number of elephants and a good slice of the environment. The colours are very nice and their separation, green and brown, makes a good composition. The only minor thing less good is the fact that you cropped the bottom elephant. The framing is a bit too tight.

I like how you've composed this, Vivek. There is a lot of negative space devoted to non-elephants, and it works well to put the animals in their environment. Thanks for a lovely shot!

Hi Vivek,
Haha, this one is funny as much as it is well executed! I really do like the composition like they consciously filled your frame in this way. Nicely done and a good note!!
Greetings,
Dennis
