This picture has been taken from top of Touchal peak(3970m)facing toward north west direction. There are few facts about this peak which are really interesting
1-the name Touchal means inside a pit and the reason is that right below the peak itself there is a huge saucer shaped area (pit) that is approximately about the size of 50 football fields which is quite rare in this altitude(part of it can be seen in this picture)
2_the area is home to a hotel (seen on the lower central part of picture)which claims to be highest in the world(3500m,I don’t know if there is a hotel situated higher than this anywhere in the world ,please inform me if you know about it),it is quite a nice hotel with very interesting points such as when you want to check in you get a complete physical examination by the onboard doctor to make sure that you are fit for overnight stay in high altitude then you are given the room and they don’t serve rice in this hotel (very strange for Iranians because we love rice) because the water boils at far less than 100 degrees and the rice is not cooked properly
3-There is a ski resort in front of the hotel and inside the pit and it is among the highest ski resorts in the world in terms of altitude and it is open for skiing up to end of June and all this is exactly north of Tehran city
4-Because of its proximity to Tehran it attracts large number of climbers and it has really hash winters with weather changing in matter of seconds and catching the inexperienced climber offgaurd and surprised hence it has the highest causality rate among all mountains in Iran
