Photographer’s Note
This is another shot taken at Waterfowl Lake on the Columbia Icefields Parkway a few weeks ago. I chose the vertical portrait perspective here because I wanted to feature the foreground complete with those interesting red algae or whatever, but also wanted to capture the reflections and the big blue sky. Enjoy.

Wow, great saturated colors Gerald. Maybe a little dark for some, but I like colors like this, although some of the details look a blacked out as you go towards the back of the photo. Really nice composition, especially catching the red specks of algae on the rocks. Super smooth and sharp also.
Great work.

Nice shot Gerald;
I like the composition of the rocks in the forground as well as the reflections off the water. The shot is very striking, but personally a bit to contrasty for my taste. I'd like to see a little more detail brough out from the shadows in the opposite shore and mountain.
Sharp detail, nice composition, rich colors- but a bit too contrasty in my opinion.
All the best,
- Dan

Gerald,
Your composition is outstanding here using the reflection to create balance and depth to the shot. The lighting and colors are great with nice sharpness and DOF. The contrast is very nice with the areas of deep shadow on the mountain side.

Hi Gerald,
The gradient in the blue sky is wonderful! The diagonal in the shot with the rocks and the reflection being spot on. A bit of something to see in the foreground to create depth. Nice shot!!

Hi Gerald,
Wonderful view from this location. A superb gradient blue in the sky sky and even the reflection in the lake has a nice piece of blue inside. Your vertical framing works very good, makes the whole composition more powerful in depth and presentation.

Hello Gerald,
Again a wonderful reflection. I love the bright saturated colors and the variety of blue and green existing between the sky and the lake is gorgeous. Your vertical composition is very good and the red lichens on the rocks in the foreground give a nce touch. A beautiful and peaceful image, congratulations.
Have a nice day.

Good Evening Gerald. I like the close up details along the shoreline bringing added interest to this photo, including the red dots of algae on these rocks. Now I can also see how clear the glacier water is from this photo. It does not look as clear as the lakes we know in our area. Good work Gerald with excellent results.

Gerald this is in my opinion one of your nicest images. It is well composed with the shoreline nicely leading the eyes into the background. The colours are well saturated. The sky is very striking here. It does have that deep blue that is often found in the Rockies. I guess the twp peaks in the disance are Howse Peak and Mt Chefren. I hope I am right. Thanks Gerald.

I've been looking at some of your earlier posts and have to say I am envious of where you live to have so many wonderful photo opps. There are so many wonderful elements to this image, not least the stunning reflections and the strange red lichen/algae. Excellent shot.

Hi Gerald,
Beautiful vertical presentation of this prestine Canadian lake catches a striking reflection of the snow capped mountain in its lovely clam turquoise waters. The red dotted rocks contrast nicely with the water grass and sky.
