Photographer’s Note
This was my first roll with Infrared in a long time. An experiment, really. This was taken in broad daylight and since it is really my first attempt at Infrared, I'd love to get some feedback for some changes that could be made. e.g. I think this would look great in a soft sepia tone, or perhaps with less contrast, but am not that skilled (yet!) with PS to attempt it just now. Maybe someone else out there has some ideas? A frame would enhance it too, I think. I would love to rework it and get the most out of this photo. This is just a lake near to where I live, with willow trees and picnic areas crawling with barbecuing families, etc. But who would guess it could look this dreamy? all in the eye of the beholder....

It's a beautiful dreamy picture. If the sparkles were directly in the center it would be even more stunning. Well done, Janet.

A very tasteful image for infra red. Found myself gazing for a while with this relaxing image. There's so much texture in this image.

hi janet
i really want to get into infrared photography as well. ive taken some colour infrared shots. if you do some search on google or any other engine you can find loads of information on this subject. there is some aspect of giving it a stop or a half extra exposure than normal. ive forgotten . i reap up on ir photography a long time back. im more towards photojournalism so i im sticking to normal photography.
good to see an infrared photograph.
take care

Hi Janet,
I have made mostly color-IR photo's (perhaps one day I'll post one on TE). I can remember something for B&W-IR about using a yellow/orange filter will give a more "dramatic" look to the image, enhancing the contrast especially on the "green" subjects (plants and so on). I'm posting a workshop with the ideas you wanted to develop on this image. I'll try to give some extra comments on the technique in PS7.
Your image is already "special" as is.
Good work!

You've made good use of the IR medium... I've seen many attempts of this sort of thing fail with wrong exposures, but you've got it here. So technically, I like it. Artistically, I like your composition as well. It might have been nice to have a little more detail of the dark area on the farther bank.
I took a look at the workshops (Sepia & sharpening) and think the original is best. Sepia takes away the special ghostly white that IR gives you in the foliage and sharpening just makes it a grainy B&W IMHO.
