Galatea trail Photo

Photographer’s Note

This a moderately difficult trail along the banks of Galatea Creek arriving eventually at Lillian Lake (also campsites). Along with a suspension bridge over the Kananaskis River there are 10 other bridge crossings . There is one steeper portion but it is quite short in length.

Option - this trail intersects the Terrace Trail after crossing the second bridge. The Terrace Trail runs from this trail to Kananaskis Village.

The length of 6.5km is one way.

This is a very popular trail, especially on weekends, so arrive early or on weekdays. For a little solitude on weekends, travel a little further (1km and 183m elev.)to the Galatea Lakes. The unofficial trail begins behind campsite #11.

For the more adventurous, a scramble up the backside of Mt. Kidd is possible from the main trail.

Mt Kidd look very nice in this picture. The little lagoon is quite cleas as well and the setting is very characeristic of the Rockies. Nice picture Nelu. I hope you hiked this trail to the Galatea Lakes. The view higher up is nicer. Mt Galatea is not visible here but is considered a difficult scramble due to its steepness. Thanks for this image Nelu.

Hello, Nelu,
never have I seen such sights as the shots from Canada. I think it must be one of the most beautiful places on earth. I am awed by the color and light, the grandness of it, the space. You have shown those wonderfully in this shot. I love the contrasts in this. The warm color and cool, the light and shadow. Wonderful POV and perfect contrast and saturation of colors.
