Fields of Blue Photo

Photographer’s Note

Blue Mussel "fields" in the Olbia Gulf.
The image was took from the ferry, few minutes after the departure, when the ship was still in the deep gulf.
There were a dozen of small boats, some with fishermen, other with Blue Mussels workers.

Blue Mussels are an important part of the Italian (and not only!) food.
Its can be cooked in dozens of different variations, with pasta, with soup, grilled, as main dishes, all except (still today) as dessert!

Thats intersting and a very unusal shot with so mach filling up the frame the colours and action ae refreshing and so is your pov. o have composed the elements well

The boat give the scale here. Nice blue colors.
Mussels can be a desert. One week ago, i went to the restaurant with my wife and we ordered mussels for each as main dish. After this, the server come to ask "Do you want a desert ?" My wife ordered a pie. I ordered mussels for myself! So, I disagree, mussels can be a desert !

I have seen mussel fields before but it still didn't occur to my mind. It's like an abstract art project of floating stones. The speeding boat is just at the right place. and those rocks balance the scene.

I've never seen a mussle field before and I haven't even known such a thing exists, so this shot is informative as well as interesting. It is a good idea to add the boat to give it a sense of scale. Well done.

Why, but i do like your photos which include no sky, despite the fact that Paolo is the master of colorful skies.
A mussel field granted you a surreal photo, which, for my taste, is the best in your gallery recently. The rocks, the boat, its trace, the mussel things which become so tiny at the top and give a nice perspective...are delicious details of your excellent skyless photo.
And "Paolo the Cook" would almost give us the reciept of a delicious blue mussel dish in his note. It would be much appreciated, but alas, he did not write anything except their names...
Next time hopefully >:D

I love this one Paolo. Without the boat it would be a strange abstract. The light is wonderful and from your high POV the "markers" make spectacular patterns. Well spotted.

impressive the deep blue with all these 'dots' that cover almost the most of the sea.The moving boat with the rocks create a large depth of field in your capture.Excellent the colours and the light.The sharpness and the clarity are unique.Mussels are very popular in Greece too.Well done Paolo.

Maybe a competitor for the real Netherlands mussels.
The much point on the water care for a nice composition but the speedboat is the real eye catcher, very well composition too!

Hi Paolo,
The photo concentrates nicely on the immediate scene without diversion. I like the dynamism and balance provided by the boat in the foreground, while the two large rocks look so smooth that they resemble some manmade objects. Good depth and graphism throughout. Mussels are important too in N. America, with the mussels from the east coast preferable to the west, alas...Very fine work. Cheers.
