Pictured here is a funicular ride, on which the Lonely Planet Ukraine writes as follows:
"It's a truly dizzying ride across the foothills and up the mountain's sheer face (the foot of which you can see in the background), during which you can overlook the coast and the sea. There is no guarantee - as there is in Switzerland - that the cable cars are given an overhaul each year..."
There is only one support column (background of the picture) right after the sea level station. Over the next three kilometres the cable car climbs from 30m above sea level to 1230m above sea level, making this the longest and steepest unsupported cable-car ride in the world. The slightest breeze lets the car bounce heavily and using the thing is not only using a means of transport but as well a sign of bravery.
And brave he was indeed, when the inspector standing atop the car on the picture hitched his ride down to the beach.
