Nice use of lighting and colors. If the monk were a little off center it would make it even more interesting.

How much did he charge you? We found that every monk and every priest wanted a little something, didn't matter what. Even 1 Birr (about 10 cents US) was enough.

nie rozczarowujesz swoimi zdjeciami,,
piękne światło , kolory ,,kompozycja..chwila
zawsze miło jest zajrzec do ciebie..wiele mozna sie nauczyc.. nie tylko o fotografii ale tez o widzeniu tego co nas otacza...
moze byt szumnie napisałam..ale dzis jest pełnia.. ;)))

Hello Antoni,

A very dramatic composition, with good available lighting. Although, I would have suggested shooting a closeup, or as Dan has suggested, slightly off center would be worth experimenting with. However, the positives far outweight the negatives in this photo. A very exotic image, with fabulous light, contrast, colors, and resolution.

A good dramatic looking shot Antoni. Great lighting and perfect exposure resulting in great colors. A real interesting looking shot. A great subject and background, with a nice composition to place it all.

...and I'll be in Ethiopia in a couple months (Lalibela, Tigray, Addis Ababa, etc, etc) and am wondering about the lighting on a subject like this. Do you remember your shutter speed? aperture? ISO speed? Were the corridors in Lalibela extremely dark? the churches?

Hello Antoni, I don’t really know how I got this photo, but cannot leave without commenting on it. Ethiopia is rather unusual place to visit and it is on my list of places to see. You've captured here very interesting atmosphere. Wonderful work. All the best with all you travels. Lucie
