Photographer’s Note
Ever since I went to Jasper in Canada the first time and missed this location I wanted to go back and photograph sunrise. Just minutes from the town of Jasper, this is a must-see location in Jasper National Park. Here I used a 2-stop soft grad to hold back the sky.

To be honest, your comment about using a 2 stop soft grad is a little above my knowledge base, but I must admit it seems to produce a fantastic result here. Very nice capture of morning scenery. Thanks.

I agree it's an absolutely 'must see' location and I long to get back there.
This is an amazing image. Beautiful early light, mirror calm water to create the perfect reflection, wonderful use of DOF.
I initially thought that HDR had been used to create the image, but it seems that it was a case of being in the right place for the perfect lighting conditions.
Beautiful.

A really beautiful shot, good use of the grad nd, the colors are top !!!
for the composition, I find this is very damage that the small grass on the bottom, in the water, are cut!!!!
a+

PS: sorry for my english if there is some fault
PS2: when I see picture like that, I want to find a job in canada or in US, where there is some big National Park without mark of the man everywhere, like phone line or house!!!!

Hello Derrald! There certainly are places that are a "must" to return and I have some on my list too that cross my mind. A very well balanced photo with a wonderful calm atmosphere that only mornings have when most people are still sleeping. The reflections are just amazing and I love that you can see the rocks shining through. Excellent ... bravo. Barbara.

Hi Derrald, Wow, what can I say - this is gorgeous. Good use of the soft grad filter. POV, colour, sharpness - all good. Pyramid Lake and Mountain form a beautiful subject, don't they. I will be posting some of my own pictures from this area over the next week or so. TFS, Colin.
