View on Sierck-les-Baines Photo

Photographer’s Note

Two weeks ago, a went for a short trip to the Ardennes and the Moselle river in the boarderregion of Belgium, France, Luxembourg and Germany.

This photo is taken in the village of Sierck-les-Baines, a small town with less than 2000 inhabitants, very close to boarders of Luxembourg and Germany. The town has been both in German and French hands, but since 1918, it is French again.

On the foreground, you see the Moselle river, a tributary of the Rhine river.

The walls you see are part of the Château des Ducs de Lorraine, built in the 11th century. The chateau isn't there any more, but the walls are still left.

Hello Stef,
Beautiful reflections ... almost metallic. Except for the sky the photo has wonderful colors & lighting. I did a WS to balance the sky with its reflection in the foreground. I hope you don't mind. Regards. Latiff.

Hej Stefan,
Het was vast niet makkelijk om uit de grote hoeveelheid foto's die je nu hebt er een uit te kiezen om mee te beginnen. Dit is hoe dan ook een uitstekende keus met die aantrekkelijke weerspiegelingen en het prettige licht op dit plaatsje. Op de compositie is ook niets aan te merken.

You had beautiful light here Stef and some lovely reflections. From the other side of the river you had a good view of the town and the castle walls high on the hill. Well done

Hallo Stefan,
Ik had iets Italiaans verwacht, maar ik heb begrepen dat daar geen "aardige" plaatjes te maken zijn. Je laat Frankrijk hier wel van z'n beste kant zien. Misschien was het een leuk idee geweest deze foto in twee gedeelten op te laden. Eerst de bovenkant en dan de onderkant.

Good pov to show a peaceful resident quarter surrounding by clumps and locate at the bank of river, good timing to capture the old walls shining by golden sunlight, completed with reflection and a lonely ship, thanks for sharing.

Dag Stef,

U heeft blijkbaar genoten van uw reis door Begië, Luxemburg en Duitsland.
Want deze foto is daar een levend bewijs van, schitterend genomen met een excellente samenstelling. Het is een mooi streek en als de fotograaf alert is krijgen wij een mooi reis verslag. Het is gewoon mooi.

Hallo Stef!
You show us a rather cosy village with beautiful surroundings here. Acording to these walls the castle must have been great. the mirror of Moselle works very well - but perhaps something in the foreground (Wall, fence, plant ...) would have given more depth to the picture ... nevertheless, I like it!

Hoi Stef,

Dat is een mooi landschap wat je hebt vastgelegd. De reflectie op het water vind ik echt prachtig. En het uitzicht op dit stadje in het groen ziet er goed uit, leuk detail ook, die boot aan de rechterkant.

zeer fraai plaatje Stef,
heel fraai in beeld gebracht, lijkt me bijzonder mooi daar. Ik hou het in mijn achterhoofd als ik in de buurt kom, goed werk, prettig weekend.
