Kulusuk is an Inuit village on the east coast of Greenland. It is a dependant of Denmark, and as such Danish is spoken (along with Greenlandic) and the Danish Krona is used as the currency. Two small Inuit settlements are found on the edge of large mountains around 2 hours east from Iceland. Kulusuk being the smaller of the two. Unlike western Greenland, there is little fishing industry, and most income comes from hunting and animal oils instead. The bright colourful houses are built and assembled in Denmark, then flat packed over to be built in Greenland. The winters are long and hard, with snow reaching as high as 15m in places. The harbour freezes and Polor Bears can be a danger. The long dark winter months are passed by playing family board games, watching DVDs and playing video games. The population is large enough for a school and church, but most young adults leave Greenland for a few years to experience life abroad before returning home.

I really liked the subject of this picture, and found its tight crop to be the best angle of all my shots. Unfortunately the sharpness is low, and has been made worse by editing. The photo is a Photomerge from 2 pictures, with 1 picture's lighting being very different and needing editing. The crop was quite a large one, and more detail was lost here.
