Photographer’s Note
A return to Colmar’s “Petit Venice” and “petit” it is indeed. The block-long canal-side quarter is now home to many restaurants and a few hotels where ambiance is the order of the day.
For more information on Colmar, please see here .
Captured in RAW, converted to jpg, resized and sharpened for TE.
Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day.

Nice photo of Colmar with soft, well saturised colors. I presume the bridge railing was unavoidable.

Silke,
Great photo with nice composition and POV. The lighting and colors are great with outstanding DOF and sharpness. You have used the canal to lead the eye through the photo giving the shot nice direction. The areas of sun and shadow create nice contrast and highlight the wonderful buildings on the right bank on the canal.

Lovely shot, with a good view of the city, these beautiful houses and the canal. I also like the tree with flowers very well placed on the right side of the picture.

Hello Silke. Again the love-worth Colmar with its small lanes and channels. Architecture worth seeing inspires the visitors. Somehow a museum of the old time, - however very alive in the age of the tourism. For your photo you found a beautiful prospect. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Hi, Silke,
What a beautiful shot! The light and colors are just breathtaking. I love the POV the way the line of houses draw the eye into the photo, too. Wonderful detail all the way through. Just a great shot. Kindest regards,

Hi Silke,
superb!!! Great light, wonderful view along the water. Green as framing and a lovely depth. The sky with the soft white clouds and the good blue give the final touch. I have seen this view very often on TE (also from your guide in Basel). This is one of the best.

Hello Silke, my friend,
Wonderful view of these exquisite houses! Lovely details of the architecture and colours. The canal gently leads the eye round and gives it chance to linger first on the sunny side, then on the shady side.
What a pity the railings obstruct the view of the waterside cafe! All else is perfect!
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Silke,
A beautiful view of this interesting architecture in fine light. The only issue is the fence which does not really add much to the composition. Was it possible to shoot from above it? Regards,

Hi Silke,
Wonderful fairy tale view of this charming French village with its trandional cottages seen in wonderful clear color and excellent details. I love the inclusion of the bridge iron works and view through them down the lovely calm canal.

I had to smile at this one after reading your latest comment on my work about "Venice" references.
This does look to be a beautiful place though. The light on the right side of the image is beautiful. The architecture is wonderful and you have captured it in excellent detail. The perspective composition works very well to carry the eye right into the scene. Well done

Hi Silke,
I don't think the railing is disturbing. Cars or telephone wires are more disturbing - but a photographer just can't control it all.
Beautiful picture with marvelous light-darkness contrasts. I like the way the colourful facades are lightened up in the sun. The style of the houses reveil some German influences. The water gives the photo a nice depth and the sky is beautiful as well.

Hello Silke. Another lovely shot from Alsace. I am sure now that I will visit this region on the next trip. The beautiful houses are superbly rendered and your viewpoint allows the jasmine (I think that's what it is) on the left to frame and soften the image. I don't object to the bridge rails at all. Very pretty picture of this town.

Hi Silke,
Wonderful scene .. almost Medieval .. almost rural .. incredibly peaceful .. great dimension .. The thing that strikes me is that I would have spent forever figuring how to compose it without the bridge and I would have been wrong. Wonderful,
take care,
