Photographer’s Note
"The third biggest Baroque church in Hungary catches our eyes from far which is one of the symbols of our town. The Baroque church of the town and the cloister were built between 1748-64 by Franz Anton Pilgram architect from Vienna.
Its tower is 60.5 m. high. Szentgotthárd battle was represented by Jr. István Dorfmeister on the frescoes of the cupolas. Gáspár Schrezenmayer Cistercian monk curved out the black inlayed teak benches for forty years. The Baroque building complex was decorated with frescoes by Matthias Grusner lay monk and István Dorfmeister well advanced in years and wood statues by Josef Schnitzler. The cloister is the most beautiful from east. Inside the building on this side there is a library and a dining room decorated also with Grusners wall paintings."
