Hey Maciej
It's a really wonderful picture. The contrast between the lady in trance and the two beer drinking men in the back is really fantastic. However, I would have preferred relative difference in brightness between the foreground and the background which would have brought out the contrast between the subjectes even more poignantly, IMHO. I added a Workshop.

Hello,
Magnifique scène, très expressive et très vivante. Pour ma part, je ne changerais rien à la luminosité ou aux contrastes (Cf WS). La profondeur de champs fait déjà tout son effet!

Hello, Maciej--
Pictures like this really challenge me... i wonder how often i just don't see things. There's a certain humor in the various shapes and sizes of the people in the frame, and there seems an incongruity between the discussion between the men in the background and the way in which the lady is caught in the moment.
Thanks!

Hi Maciek. This is a pretty nice shot I think. Strangely, I kind of like the look of you shooting down at her a bit and I think your timing was excellent. The two men in the background make for good secondary elements too. Maybe there is a little too much room on the top and I have to say that I think the colors could be considerably better, as they are kind of grey and not all that appealing. Just a PP issue, but certainly it is something I notice. Nice photo

Another of your great pub shots, Maciej - I'm telling you man, this is you BEST work, it gets me in the gut, everytime (and I'm no alcoholoc, far from it ;o))) The theatrical lighting, the subtle ositioning f the two siters in the delicate bokeh zone of the 35 f1.4 at f2.8., the expression on the woman's face. Cold be a scene in an asylum in old Roumania for all I know...
Powerfu stuff, as god as anything you have ever shown, IMHO (but these days, what do I know...?)

Amazing work, Maciej! That expression, the woman's lonely, trancelike lostness in her dance in the corner while the men are busying themselves with a heated discussion is formidable. This one will have to go to my favs... Gorgeous moment, decisive moment...

Hello Maciej. Your photo pleases me well. It shows a beautiful scene. Above all the photo lives naturally on the woman in the foreground with her expression-strong body attitude. A outstanding shot. Best regards, Wolfgang.

Unusual scene... Unusual shot...
The one that calls for: How close can you...
It's close.. It's very close..
-----------
Flaws:
The colors...
They belong to that 'unfit colors' department of photography.
A conversion into BW or duo-tone sepia would perform a magic to it...
At least, from the photographic POV..
Still...Amazing stuff...
Pure breed one... Not many of us are able to produce something so 'within' as this !
Enthusiastic...g.

The lady is totally oblivious to the man explaining how to produce the sound of one hand clapping... :-)
Hi, Maciej, have no idea where that came from. A wonderful little moment caught with your usual quicksilver eye for double-entendre (or -voir, but since it's about music) composition.
PS: I think she is dancing to that sound he is talking about...Her own inner music!

I find this extremely pure in a sense of
freezing a moment in time, a moment that
is so strong in documenting what life is
really about.
It's like checking each frame of a film
until we find that perfect one that depicts
nothing spectacular, but basic molecule
each of our lives consist of.
Finding a flaw here would be like trying
to find a needle in a haystack!
Excellent stuff, Maciej.

Maciej,
There is a sadness in this picture.. Perhaps a sadness that one can only feel if they truly understand what it is like to live in such a place. This environment makes me feel something...a feeling of happiness and sadness at the same time. Happy that I am not born into such a lifestyle.. I feel enlightened to know what it is like to live on the other side. A happiness that my parents always made damn sure that I studied hard enough to keep away from the kind of downward spirals I have seen others go through. The vicious cycle of pubs, clubs, alcohol, smoking and sadness in uninspiring and depressing places.. Your photographs of Cardiff nightlife (clubs, younger people).. is just an modern version of the music room on a Monday night.
She represents the sadness which is perhaps felt by so many whom frequent such places. The rigmarole of decades of frequenting such places. This is her moment of elation - her highpoint of the week, which can/will only come under intoxication.
George needs to spend as much time as you have in this place to truly understand the meaning of those "unfit colours". I see them and feel them. I don't expect you to tart up anything. The colour he wants to see is more than likely not ever there. Look at that decor..the wallpaper, which has probably been there since the building was first built and decorated. Even if they did redecorate, would it be much different? During my time in India, I was asked by many local people, what it is like to live in England.. I am actually an optimist, but for some reason, I revert them to your photographs to show them what it is really like. This is it Maciej. This stuff is what will get you noticed, I feel..
