Photographer’s Note

Elafonissi is a small island located on the southwestern coast of the island of Crete. There is a lagoon between coastline of Crete and Elafonissi. Most of the time the water is calm so it is easy to cross the lagoon.
It is really amazing place with blue crystal clear water, hills, rich flora and fauna, white and pink sand.

This place has also sad history. In 1824 Imbriam’s soldiers killed here 850 women and children and 40 greek soldiers. Legends say that since that time there is pink sand on Elafonissi.
