This is 5.30am at Lochan na h-Achlaise on the Black Mount of Rannoch, looking west(ish) to Stob Ghabhar.
A fine place to be, at that time, as the first rays of the morning sun, low from the right, light up the pink quartzite of the indigenous rocks. Accompanied only by 20 million midges.
A b/w version is posted as w/s.

Hi Dougie! amazing landscape and great colour and clearness . I like! Carme.

Hello Dougie,
Really fascinating picture, breathtaking. Beautiful colors and mirror like surface of the lake. I like especially the atmosphere of a new day approaching. I can almost feel the fresh air, chill, and the silent of this beautiful place.
Best wishes,
Mirko

Wow Dougie,
This is truly a glorious image, what a view. The reflection of the sky on the water is magical and the distant views to the misty mountains is superb. Wonderful low POV. The inclusion of the small yellow flowers and the other vegetation in the foreground is wonderful. An all round glorious image.
Cheers,
Debbie

Holy shmoly! This is top notch! I really love this shot. Everthing is just perfect. There is so much to see but it is not cluttered at all. The light changes wherever I look and there are so many colour tones hidden here.
I'll be back for more!

Dougie,
Great photo with excellent sharpness and detail. The morning light is great giving the photo nice warmth and color. Your composition is great from a nice POV.

Asa

Beautiful shot Dougie. The thing that first hits me is your depth of field and the concentration on the foreground, right from those first rocks in water to the back island. The mountains and sky provide a great backdrop. The colours are very good, with excellent lighting throughout. The shot is sharp with good clarity throughout.

Hi Dougie,
The reflections in the water from almost every rock, blade of grass, hill, tree, distant mountain are great! The still water, or so it seems, the clouds, mist and tones give this photo a chilly atmosphere. Nice the way the early morning sun is hitting everything in the middleground, causing the viewer to look into the pic! Very nice POV, great composition! Sharpness, clarity and quality are all superb!
Great photo!
Regards,
Costa.

Hi Dougie

What a reward for your early start. I love the first rays of light catching the rocks in the water, and the mist on the water too. Good DOF and composition. Good work.

Hi Dougie. You have again given us your vision of our Earth- which is to render it as if bedecked with jewels and precious metals. In this case the glowing rocks and the golden blades of reeds. Thanks for sharing these rare (for many of us)and inspiring moments.Regards. Klaudio.

What a beautiful atmosphere ! From the thumbnail I thought it was a standard landscape. Very sharp, and I like the blade of light on the pond. Excellent shot.

hello Dougie,
The light is great, creating a superb image, I like here the superb foreground.

Hi Dougie,

Great sense of dimension ... wonderful taste of the early morning sun ... wonderful mirrored tones in the sky and reflection .. very very nice.

take care,

John

Dougie this is a stunner! Going straight into my favourites. The light is amazing - the band of sunlight that runs across the shot in the middle is beautiful. The workshop is also lovely but the colour version's the best.
Very well done!
cheers
Leon

Hi Dougie, this is a wonderful shot, I feel like I could just walk into the Loch. You have got good DOF and I like the composition. Well done

You light is awesome and the exposure and shutter speed seem to be absolutely perfect. Composition is awesome and its sharp as a tack. This is a National Geographic quality photo!

Hello Dougie, Loch Rannoch is one of my favorite places in Scotland, but I guess you would not find a single photographer that would not say it. Your early start has definately paid off here. You've captured some fantastic light here. Wonderful work. Lucie

Hej Dougie,
This is a gorgeous view over the loch in the early morning. The light conditions are great and the clouds help to give a fine atmosphere to the photo. Fantastic landscape, thanks for sharing!

Lars

Oh, Dougie!
This is one of your very best. Beautiful POV, colors, light. Everything. Absolutely perfect. I love that ray of light across the water, the small yellow flowers in the corner and that lone tree to the right with that awesome reflection. Fabulous job! Kindest regards,
Shelly

Hi Dougie,
Perfect time for photos like this. Early morning rays, perfectly still lake and disappearing fog. Well composed shot with clearly divided foreground, middle and back.

Hi, Dougie.

Another stunning photograph of yours. I absolutely love reflections on water and no-one does it better than you. The colours are superb too.

This shows how determination to get in the right place at the right time pays off: the picture will remain for Eternity - a bottle of Calomine lotion and the midge bites will soon disappear :)

Excellent!

Best Wishes,

John.

P.S. Just seen the B&W version - nope, the colour one is still better - there is perhaps a little more "depth" in the monochrome version but you also lose those wonderful subtle colours and lighting on those rocks in the mid-distance.

Hi Dougie:

This shot seems a bit busy (perhaps it's the number of rocks everywhere), but otherwise this is absolutely enchanting. The lighting and colors really affect the mood, and of course you can never do wrong with a bit of early-morning mist. Very finely captured and seen. One of my coworkers asked why I always try to shoot at sunrise. This shot conveys why it's my favorite time. Great job.

Hello Dougie,

Thanks

Hi Dougie,
I just saw your latest photo at the same place, but this one is absolutely gorgeous ! The composition is very well done, with a good depth, an excellent sharpness, very nice reflections on the water. But overall the light is fantastic, with wonderful colours and a very little mist at some places. I add it to my favourites ;)

Olivier
