Photographer’s Note

After a 6 hour bus ride from Sharm through empty deserts, the chaos of Cairo was a bit of a shock. The sandy colour of all the buildings however makes the place feel like a part of the desert that has organically grown into a metropolis.

This is the view of Midan Ramses (Ramses Square) with Ramses Station on the left, this is the site of the first rail link between Cairo and Alexandria which opened in 1856.
