I have just come across a beautiful photograph of this mountain posted today by Indro (indoka28). I love Indro's photo and it inspired me to delve once more into my collection of photos and see if I could find a Mt. Kangchenjunga image worthy of posting to TE too.
So, Indro, this one is for you, I hope you like it :)
Location details: This photo is of the Kangchenjunga region of the mighty Himalayan mountain range and was photographed from a viewpoint about an hour's drive from Darjeeling called "Tiger Hill". I had to get up at 03:45 in the morning when sensible people are still tucked up nice and warm in their beds to get to Tiger Hill for 05:00 when the dawn light just starts to creep over the hills.
From Tiger Hill it is possible to see 5 different countries. India, obviously, because you are in it!; Nepal is visible in the distance to my left (towards Everest); the mountains in the background to my photo are in Tibet; to my right the landscape becomes Bhutan and immediately behind me heading down into the plains it is possible to see Bangladesh.
Mt. Kangchenjunga is the third tallest mountain in the world at 8,586m (28,169ft) but due to it's proximity to Darjeeling it looms over all the other mountains in view.
PP details: Full width shot but cropped top of image by about 40% to create panoramic format; Slight contrast increase; Slight Saturation increase; Reduce graininess a little in mountains, alot in sky; Sharpness x 1 in large version, x 2 in regular version; added white frame to regular version.
Regards,
Rich
I got the proportions slightly wrong the first time I uploaded this which meant I didn't have the option of uploading the large version which I had created. Thanks to everyone who took the time to write a critique for my original posting, now - by clicking on the photo - you can see the beautiful Mt. Kangchenjunga as I originally intended...
