Photographer’s Note

As the sun was setting behind us, a huge crowd walked down the closed road from Fremont to gas-works park to watch the 4th July fireworks in Seattle. The park has a fabulous view out over lake Union to the skyscrapers down-town and the Space Needle in the West. The first week of July was very warm and clear, making for ideal weather not only for fireworks but also photography. I'll post some photos of the fireworks later, but I actually prefer this fading-light photo to any of the fireworks.

Post processing - curves to increase contrast without increasing blown-out reflections and reduce excess yellow tinge, vignette on three edges to match natural vignette on right, finally unsharp mask 70% @ 0.5px compensates for some slight blur from being hand-held and also the resizing.

Hi Robert,
Very nicely composed. It doesn't blow me away like you say, but has very nice colors and superb reflections. The background and cloudy sky is wonderful.

Hi Robert,
This is a lovely one....very relaxing with the warm light and reflections glistening in the water.The composition is very good with the vertical format giving depth and the boat placed to left.

Very nice composition between the boat, the reflections and the buildings. Useful note, too. I think you could have done a bit more reduction on the glare on that one building upper right, but that's a minor point in a good shot.
