The Damselfly (Suborder Zygoptera) is an insect in the Order Odonata. Damselflies are similar to dragonflies, but the adults can be differentiated by the fact that the wings of most damselflies are held along the body when at rest. Furthermore, the hindwing of the damselfly is essentially similar to the forewing, while the hindwing of the dragonfly broadens near the base, caudal to the connecting point at the body. Damselflies are also usually smaller, and weaker fliers than dragonflies, and their eyes are separated

I've never come across one of these. The colours are so flamboyant and extraordinary. Great work capturing each vein on its wings. Thanks for sharing this brilliant photograph and its informative note.

the colors and focus are spot on in this shot...great work....maybe a bit less aperature would look nice....it would bring some more of the wings in focus and some darker tones in the background without making it detract from the damselfly. also, i normally dislike "cookie cutter straight from wikipedia" notes but yours was actually interesting....great work
