Photographer’s Note

Je me suis plié les cheveux en quatre pour trouver un titre. Finalement, j'opte tout simplement pour "Kyoto Station". Kyoto est une ville formidable à visiter, et je dois dire que dès l'arrivée dans sa gare, la visite touristique et photographique commence bien. L'endroit est majestueux, sophistiqué et réserve au photographe des points de vue intéressants.

I passed a lot of time to find a good title. Finally, I choose this simple one. Kyoto is a wonderful town to visit and I mùust say that as soon as you arrived in the station, the touristic and photographic visit begins well. The place is majestuous, siphisticated and reserve for the photographer some interesting points of view.

j'aime beaucoup cette prise de vue.La composition de l'image et les couleurs sont excellentes.Le pov est bien choisie.Beau travail.

hi Olivier,
all those lines from top to bottom is a most powerful element of your picture! i also think that you composed the dark&light parts and the girl in an effective way. just a question: was the girl illuminated like this in the original?

j'aime beaucoup cette compo très dépouillée. C'est le japon on s'attend à la foule et il n'y a qu'une persoonne mais tellement bien mise en scène au niveau cadrage & lumière.

Bonsoir Olivier,

Une photo graphique et lumineuse pas mal réussit du tout ! La femme ressort vraiment de l'ensemble linéaire derrière elle, son relief d'autant plus. Côté cadrage, peut-être un peu trop de hauteur ce qui perd le sujet dans la masse. J'aurai bien tenté un format carré avec la délimitation ombre lumière en son centre.

Un bel effet graphique de ces marches. Une jolie lumière se degage sur le haut et donne donc un peu plus de contraste ombré vers le bas. Un beau travail de cadrage décentré, bravo.

This is what makes photographing so interesting.
To see and to capture.
You really had the eye of a master by this one Olivier.
A simple composition but full of dimension.
Technically beautifully done, very graphical, sober colours,
great light and a nice POV.

A beautiful one for sure with light, except the girl,as the big winner of the composition.It couldn't be better exposure and handled of light I suppose.Lines and shapes also adding a lot to this minimalistic scene...

Great job. All around wonderful shot with POV, lighting and framing. The receding steps climbing away from the lone woman as she sits quietly thinking. Her placement is impeccable in the bottom corner and the elongated shot make it work all the more.

En ce lieu, je me pose la question…Où est situé le photographe.
C’est la perspective qui m’intrigue
Les escaliers mécaniques... non
La passerelle au niveau de la scène… !!!

Par contre j’aime bien l’élément jaune…Et la position des gambettes de la dame.
Et Il me semble, pas si inconnue que ça...

Great photo, couldn't have been composed better, with the light leading down the middle of the stairs, leaving the subject perfectly lit, excellent job!!

Great simple artistic composition that's not so simple (if you know what I mean). Color is perfect and the girl is in the perfect position, sipping a drink with her bag next to her, to give the sense of waiting at the station. The marble stairway really looks great in the differing shades of lighting and your POV makes the steps look really steep, almost clifflike towards the top. Really great work. In my opinion it definitely deserves a better title. "Kyoto Station" works though as it can't be easy thinking of a title to compliment a photo as good as this.

Bonjour Olivier! Cette photo a une excellente perspective! J'aime le jeu d'ombres et de lumieres qui se prolonge tout au long des escaliers: il y a vraiment un effet de profondeur. Bonne composition aussi avec la fille tout en bas dans un coin dans un etat d'attente probablement. Les couleurs sont magnifiques. Tres reussie!!!
