Photographer’s Note
Late October 2006, fog and rain season in North Italy, grey sky, pollution at top level, daily alarm about it for children and old people of the big cities.
Then, you jump over the Appennini Liguri and you'll find a different world.
Blue Sky, 10° more in the day and in the night, sun and people on the beach. Someone in the sea...
Many years ago, when i was a child in the 70's, on the National Tv there was a famous show, called Portobello.
It was a sort of public square where many people from all the country (specially outside the big cities), can go there and talk about what they want...about personal ideas that, in their opinion, would change the world.
in better.
A famous one, that i well remember, was a old inventor that proposed to destroy a mount on the Appennino Ligure, to open a door to the wind and to change the polluted air of North Italy!
But the Turchino is not a normal mount, but the most famous one of that Ligurian range... the Turchino, the one where there is the railway tunnel, 2 parallel higways from Milan to Genoa and where every year from the beginning of the XX century there is the Milano-San Remo bycicle race! One of the most famous and important race!
The Turchino for people of North Italy is a sort of door to the sea, to the blue sky, to the fresh marine air... for dozens, maybe hundreds of times i leaved Milan and the flat North Italy with cold, grey sky and polluted air, drivin along the A7 highway and went out from the Turchino tunnel on the Ligurian side i found another world...the one on the picture.
So when that "inventor" proposed to destroy the mount Turchino there was a big and long public discussion on radios, tv's, bars and everywhere about that idea.
totally crazy, brilliant, bull***t, genial...
Fortunally no one took that idea as a brilliant one, cause the Pianura Padana is long 400 kms and wide 200 kms, and the polluted air is higher than 15.000 meters from the ground!
The Turchino Hole should give us not more than a small, small, small hole of 2.000 square meters....
I searched on the net, i talked with many friends of my generation...at that time on the Italian Tv there were just 2 channels.
Rai 1 and Rai 2, and so, when there was Portobello, one a week, all Italy was watched that show.
All, really all the people remember something about that guy, about " the one that wont to destroy the Turchino", but NO-ONE know his name!
Also on the net there isn't anything about him.

Bonjour Paolo

Hello Paolo,
This is a very good composition with a nice strong diagonal formed by the shore. The colorful buidings at the rear are very pictural as well, I like it !
Have a nice day.

Cher Paolo,

Hi Paolo. No wonder there was an outcry. What an idiot! We have just had one of the wettest Junes on record and they are saying we are going to get more of the same for the summer ;(
Well at least this time next week I will be in sunny Tuscany.
Oh, and 2 channels, those were the days. Seemed there was more to watch then.

Hi Paolo,
Nice beach scenery, although the black colour of the beach is not so inviting as a golden white beach from a bounty island ;-)
Good that you included those houses in to it, gives it more colour and a good overal impression how the place looks...very nioce.

Bonita foto, complimenti.

Ciao Paolo,
Good to read that Turchino was left as it is, therefore the pollution of north could not reach those beautiful shores of south. Intersenitng architecture, which reminds me of the coastline of Lyons.
Btw, does the name Turchino have anything to do with Turks?

Hi Paolo, yes you have the best team but we have the best sand ... Excellent picutre Paolo, i do like this kind of lack of smoothness, not too sharp and this is good like this.
As usual your talent on colors talk
Good job Paolo :) (don't know why i smile to you .. ;) )
