[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Vancouver's Coal Harbour, after sunset. This is looking toward the east, so the sunset sky is only visible in the reflections from the buildings. The is the oldest part Vancouver, being the end of the first railroad across Canada. Even before that, this was the location of a native settlement. The calm water in this location makes it one of my favourites for photography, because you can get some good reflections.

Loved the lighting. The coarse coal and debris in the foreground allows for a lovely transition to the reflected light in the water and on the buildings.

Hi Alvin,
A great image of Vancouver at sunset, and I paricularly like the monochromatic effect plus the few bright coloured lights. The reflections of the buildings are great and the addition of the orange sunset colours from the sky add so much impact to the photo. Very well managed under difficult lighting conditions.
Cheers Grant

Les couleurs changent un peu de l'ordinaire.Le format vertical est un très bon choix!
Bien vu

Hi Alvin,
A very pleasing presentation indeed. The composition is perfect with just enough in the foreground to lead the viewer into the heart of the image. Almost has the feel of an artistic painting with exquisite colors and detail. Great shot and thanks for sharing. Gerald

Hi Alvin,

A good POV of Coal Harbour and of the buildings, the photo has a good composition, DOF and nice colors. Have a nice day.

Pierre

Hi Alvin:

This shot seems fitting for the name, as it has a bit of a greyish look to it. But the pink in the sky and the gold on the building gives it a great bit of color as well. It seems to me to be slightly tilted to the right. Otherwise, another excellent sunset shot from you!

Hi Alvin,
Wow, its very nice to see the lighting condition. It fall over a little portion of the building and that gives drama to overall shot. The reflection looks very nice here.
Great shot.

Hi Alvin,

Fantastic shot. The reflections of the sunset sky on the buildings are amazing. The colours in the sky and the calm water with the stunning reflections compliment the photo even more! Excellent POV with beautiful details and great quality! Great work, Alvin!

Bonjour ALvin,
Best regards.
Daniel

Hi Alvin, I think some of the best sunsets are shot towards the east, where we can pick up on the warm colours and reflections. This one of yours has done that very well. Those buildings and that sky look alive. The reflections in the bay as you pointed out are very good. You've presented all of that to us on a solid "in focus" foreshore.

Thanks, John

Ola Alvin que belo por do sol fantastico os reflexos dos ultimos raios solares nos arranha-ceus , os reflexos sobre a agua ficaram fantasticos .
Um abraço Gonçalo

Hi Alvin,
Beautil light here, not only in the buildings and the reflection, but mostly in the sky, real soft colours which really lift this picture up.
Very good composed in the foreground leading us straight to the city...wonderful.
Regards, Henk

Alvin, I can see why this is one of your favorite places for photography. You didn't anly get some nice reflections of the sun on the buildings, but also these reflections as reflections on the water. A doubled reflection :-)
I'm not quite sure but the image seems to have a slight tilt to the right.

Hi Alvin,

Beatiful reflections with nice light effects. I like this building ligthned like a fire. The stones in the foreground are interesting, for depth and for its texture. I like too the curved movement in the shot! Nice photo! Thanks.

Regards,
Angel.

Lovely capture Alvin, the mirrored image in the calm waters double its appeal. I like how you built the composition up from the foreground. Good management of low light. Very nice work.

Hello Alvin! The interesting colors drew me in to this, they are nicely saturated but subtle at the same time and contrast beautifully with the gray tones of the water and clouds. The angle of the reflection is perfect drawing us deeper into the frame.

Perfect composition, perfect light, perfect capture. I love the soft pink and purple sky. The sun reflecting off of the building is awesome. This is great work Alvin.

Hi Alvin, another great composition with wonderful colours and tones!
the reflection is amazing as usual..
This is my fav. hour of a day...when the sun goes down..thel ight is fantastic!
bravo!
ciao!

Hi Alvin
I don't know how I skipped over this but the composition is excellent with the rocks, lol, in the foreground and the beautifully lit city and it's reflection in the background. Good choice of vertical to accentuate the height of the buildings and masts.

Nikki
