Photographer’s Note
Photo of a man in his 50s with his cart taken near Osh bazaar waiting for the next customer.
Is he thinking of his family's future? What happened to his past? Will his son be doing the same and in his early years?
It is often the case when boys as young as 7-10 years old start working as cart pushers and some of them are not able to buy a cart so they rent it, earn for living for their parents and siblings, and save some money to buy a cart. Many of them miss classes or just drop out schools.
It's very exhaustive and tiring (and tiresome) job which hurts legs; cart pushers usually get less than 50 cent for a 'delivery'. Local gangs can often force them (usually the young and children) to be informants.
Photo taken when I was in a taxi.
Contrast added, croped.
