Photographer’s Note

For over two millennia, the Tuareg operated the trans-Saharan caravan trade connecting the great cities on the southern edge of the Sahara via five desert trade routes to the northern Mediterranean coast of Africa.

The Tuareg adopted camel nomadism.

Modern Touareg travel around the world by plane, living in the airport lounges, drinking tomato juice and eating sandwiches, using Blackberries to talk with the family thousands of miles far away, transporting documents, files and few personal things.

Modern Touareg aren't so different from the original ones, just a camel and an airplane...
