The first time I saw this place, I litteraly lost my breath...When you arrive in Cinque Terre by train from La Spezia, when approaching Riomaggiore, there are some kind of holes in the tunnel and you can have a peak at the sea and the coast. I'll never forget that feeling.

My hostel was in Manarola, the second city of the 5 when arriving from Riomaggiore. When you get out of the train in Manarola, you have to get under the tracks to reach the station, and then to cross a tunnel to reach the small village. When getting out the tunnel, if you turn left, you reach the sea, and if your turn right, you have a very steep hill to climb. That's where my hostel was situated, just beside the church. It's the building you see in the foreground.

From my window, I had a wonderful view, but believe me, being so near from a bell tower is not so nice in the morning...

To get this view, I had to get off the beaten track a little bit, but the view was well worth the effort...I hope you enjoy.

Cheers,

Marc

Giorgio

G'evening Marc! Hope you had an enjoyable trip! (it looks like it!) What a beautiful place. The colours are amazing. Every shot I see from the D70 looks so crisp. I'm thinking that my next camera might need to be one! I like the pov too. Nothing really for me to "critique" But thought it deserves a smiley :) Look forward to seeing more shots from your trip!

Rgds, Leilani

Salut Marc!!!

Héhéhé! Tu as survécu à ton escapade européenne! Welcome back!

Hi Marc,

Very nice shot!
I love the POV looking down on the village.
Excellent colors and lighting as well.
Well done, thanks for sharing!

Manamo!!!!
T'es de retour? Tu as passé un bon voyage?
Bon retour! :D
Claire

Bonjour Marc!

Do you still hear those bells in you head? I hope not hehehe...Good to hear from you dude!

This place looks sureal, like a scene from a story book, the coloured houses nestled on this hill, seems so quiet as if children were all sent to bed early. Great POV, worth the climb dude! The colours are so rich, the cool early evening light really draws you to early bedtime...well better do, the bell tolls that early too!

See more of your images soon!

Sante!

Jom

Hi Maki :)
a beautiful coloures picture, wish I was there too *

Olá Marc, nice to see you back and what a beautiful view over the perched city. Italy has an amazing coast and it surprises the way they build building upon building, right over the beach. In the background of this photo, we can see that well. It's like a lego town, very unstable and someday everything will fall apart - well...I hope not ;-) The terrace of your hotel has a fantastic view, but it's far away from the beach as well. The steep hill sides are incredible and that one on the left is wonderful. Good placement of the church tower, right in the middle with the needle of the roof touching softly the surf of the sea. You managed a great shot, considering the 'shy sunset' :)
It's a pleasure to see you here.
All the best,
ricardo

Charles

Hi Marc,
What a lovely landscape!
I think these perched towns scattered on europe are so special that have to be enjoyed at its best.
Exactly what you did climbing to get this excellent high POV over the town and with the sea as background.
You got a colorful picture, with the help of all that houses and buildings painted each different from the surrounding one.
An excellent vertical composition, with the addition of the clear view of the hostel in which you were.
My compliments and thanks for share it.
Best regards,
JM

Salut Marc,
Bien vu,
Bonne journée,
JB.

Hi Marc,

Great depth and detail .. mythical fairy tale colors .. I love the relationship of the pink houses to the pink sky .. I love how the horizon feels almost infinite .. wondrous image ..

Hello Marc,
really a marvellous shot that anyone can lost his breath and all photographers would wanted to be there to capture this panorama. The sunset colours give a separate light in the houses of the village as surrounding with the greenery. As i can see and understand the huses are build on the slopes grooved by a torrent.Well done.

Have a nice day,Danos

You found the perfect POV to photograph this beautiful scene, Marc, and I love the light and colours that you have captured in this excellent composition. This would work well in a square format too (cropped just below the red roof) - I am not saying that would be better, but just another idea for presentation. Cheers . . . David

Hi Marc,
Very beautiful view... Excellent colours, details and good point of view. Nice work!
Have a good weekend.
