Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken on the main road out of the town of Bikaner, northern Rajasthan. We had been to visit the nearby Camel Research Centre so which ever road that's on, that's the road I took this!

I think we had stopped to buy some drinks and before we set off again I saw this cow approaching with the trailer. I raced over to the car, scrambled about in the back trying to get to my camera and eventually, amidst much panic, I managed to get a shot just as they were about to go past. I think they all found my hasty actions quite funny, you can just about see the mother is still smiling to herself too. The two lads were laughing on the trailer behind but the older one rewarded my efforts to take their picture by leaning forwards and presenting me with the world's biggest smile. It certainly made my afternoon after a couple of hours spent with a herd of grumpy camels! ;)

PP details: Full-frame shot, no cropping; Brightness/contrast increased by about +20 each as the photo was very underexposed - I was already shooting on ISO 400 but with no time to select the correct settings I just pointed and shot and hoped for the best; Sharpness x 1; Black frame added.

Have a good weekend, keep smiling! :)
