Miacamu Peak, part of the Kawa Karpo holy Tibetan range, in Yunnan, China, seen from the village of Yubeng in the early morning. This is a holy peak, second after Kailash for the Tibetans, and they come from miles around to walk around the mountain and do prostrations.

Incredible ! It is a pity which it is so small... In any way this picture is really marvellous and I already do not believe to have seen such a phenomenon...

I just returned from Yubeng - will post some photos soon.
You saw some great "atmospherics". Beautiful and unusual shot. It is a great mountain.

Hi Dave,

By now I have probably seen hundreds of photos of this mountain, and yet yours still manages to stand out. From a technical point of view, I doubt you could have exposed any better; in spite of enormous variations in intensity of light, nothing is either over- or under-exposed (bar the bottom left, which is irrelevant). The clouds, of course, are only just barely in this world, and lend an entirely appropriate mystical feel to this holy mountain.
