Katakolo or Katakolon is a seaside town in western Ilia in the municipality of Pyrgos. Katakolo is part of the municipality of Pyrgos (Ilia). It is located south of Patras and Dounaiika, 12 km off downtown Pyrgos, west of Olympia and northwest of Messenia. The town centre is within a gulf overlooking the Ionian Sea. It has a small port which is the main port of Pyrgos, a school, restaurants, a church and a town square. A railway line called the Katakolo-Pyrgos Rail used to go to Katakolo. Small hills with forests surround Katakolo. Katakolo is situated on a peninsula and has a lighthouse founded southwest. The Lighthouse Katakolo (Faros Katalkolo) was first opened in 1865. It is also a frequent stop for cruise ships on tours of the Ionian and Mediterranean seas. Consequently, many of the shops in the town centre are geared toward foreign tourists.

Hi Assi,
Nice composition and colors, good exposure. The clouds seem like they've been painted, the sunlight reflection on the sea is wonderful...

The leaning horizon may need to be adjusted a bit but I think that's an easy thing to do...

Rgds,
Dimitris

Hi Assi,

This is a very fine photo! I love the so well polarized sky here! Good composition with the boat on the right balancing the composition up for the presence of the coast on the left. The places of interest are well spread. Good contrast and fine detail, ripplings on the water are nice too!
Two minorities :
* The vignette in the corners, you can try to correct it in PhotoShop with Distort -> Lens Correction
* The slanting horizon, which can easily be corrected!

Hello Assi,

Wonderfully intense. The reflection on the water on the horizon is just so nice. But why did you not rotate the picture a bit to get your horizon straightened out? Just 1.5 or 2 degrees...
When not looking at the tilt, it's a wonderful shot! The little brushes of clouds in the sky, the boat totally in the middle of the water with no land behind it. Really, great composition! Nice.

Greetings,
Dennis

Hi assi,

Nice effect with the sky and the clouds. I adore the flickering sun rays on the water surface. However, the horizon line is slightly bent. I posted a workshop to show you how I see it.

Anyway, lovely jobly.

cheers

Really nice composition and silhouette. Great color. I especially like the shimmering water and "wispy" clouds in the sky. The horizon looks a little tilted, it may just be me though.

Great photo. Minimalistic but alot to look at.

Hi Assi,
Perfect sea-scene,near my hometown.A place that have visited in the past.
Superb composition and the colors of the sky give a special colored tone to your subject.
Maybe the horizon is a little bit titled.
thanks for sharing,
George
