Photographer’s Note
The southern city of Ashkelon was one of the hosts of the EMYR. EMYR stands for East Mediterranean Yacht Race, and is less a race and more of a fleet sail. The special thing about the EMYR is that boats from all over the world (potencially... there are usually only American, European and Israeli Boats) get to see all the middle east - and on one day they are visiting Syria, and the next Israel (well, the Israeli boats don't do the whole course, of course). You can see the course for this year here. The boats are usually in a great shape, and when they enter the various marinas they put on a spectacular flags display - a real celebration for boat lovers.
This view caught my eye while strolling on the pears of Ashkelon Marina - all the beauty of the boats and the decorated masts, and then those other masts...
I cropped very tightly, to leave only the two types of masts. The price was loosing some sharpness and making an already existing exposure problem even more evident... Then I accidentally deleted the original, so I can't show the the whole scene (I intended to post it to workshop). I hope it still manages to convey the message.

What a fun photo it transmits excitment and extreme joy. I really like the smoke stack on the side.

I like the close crop and the focus on the masts. Good composition. Good caption too!

Nice repetitive composition, Liora, with delightful colors added by the small flags on the masts. And what an original way of capturing it in the diagonal way like you did, and have it all culminate in - a chimney! I think the slight exposure problems you mention are quite made up for by this original presentation. You might actually consider adding this one into the "repetitive pattern" category of the current scavenger hunt.

Quite colorful. How far away is the chemney? I think you are showing us what was more interesting, though the original (as WS) would have been also informative. I like the many little flags. I wonder what they represent, other than probably nations' flags.

This is a fine TE shot with a wonderful note complementing the colorful image. The telephoto lens pulled the masts together nicely adding to the density of the lines. I'm sorry the wider view was lost, it would be nice to see this in context. Good colors and fine definition Liora. Well done.

Une composition plaisante et des couleurs magnifiques. J'auraui peut-être essayé de saturer un peu plus les couleurs. Amicalement/jr

From the thumbnail, I thought this may have been some type of barbed wire fence to keep out the Palestineans. How wrong I was. The flags are a nice added touch.

The chimney stack is not going anywhere but the masts are. I like your note too. Descriptive to explain what's the photo is. Narrative as well.
