Photographer’s Note

The southern city of Ashkelon was one of the hosts of the EMYR. EMYR stands for East Mediterranean Yacht Race, and is less a race and more of a fleet sail. The special thing about the EMYR is that boats from all over the world (potencially... there are usually only American, European and Israeli Boats) get to see all the middle east - and on one day they are visiting Syria, and the next Israel (well, the Israeli boats don't do the whole course, of course). You can see the course for this year here. The boats are usually in a great shape, and when they enter the various marinas they put on a spectacular flags display - a real celebration for boat lovers.
This view caught my eye while strolling on the pears of Ashkelon Marina - all the beauty of the boats and the decorated masts, and then those other masts...
I cropped very tightly, to leave only the two types of masts. The price was loosing some sharpness and making an already existing exposure problem even more evident... Then I accidentally deleted the original, so I can't show the the whole scene (I intended to post it to workshop). I hope it still manages to convey the message.
