Photographer’s Note
I'm not convinced that my photograph of the korean monk last week was the best shot.
Personally, I like the landscape version and the mystical look on his face. But I keep coming back to the photo of the monk when he looked directly at me. There's something about the shot that I like and I can't quite work out what it is ...

I prefer this version ant the vertical perspective, u were right. Great clear shot, I love the indifferent expression on his face and the colorful blurry background for cheering up.

Great shot, David, fabulous counterpoint of a background behind that grey outfit and pondered look. It just makes our eyes rebound across the frame like a pinball.
I understand when you say you can't quite make out why you like it. Well, sometimes, 1+1 don't make 2, but 3. I think it's the case here.
PS: I went to look at the other pix. no contest, today's got the mojo...

Hi david,
I love the sharpness and colorful bokeh b/g. The facial expression of the monk, is somehow mysterious to me. A little bit sad?
Cheer, Phal
