Photographer’s Note

Segovia - Ciudad vieja - la vieille ville avec son aqueduc. Il est 728 m long et ses arches atteignent une hauteur de 24 m. Construit par les romains, sous Trajan, à la fin du 1er siècle de notre ère pour acheminer l'eau du rio Acebeda (rio Frío d'après le guide Hachette) dans la Sierra de Fuenfría vers la ville haute. Cet aqueduc était utilisé jusqu'au 19e siècle.
The aquaduct in Segovia, constructed at the end of the 1st century by the Romans to bring water from the rio Acebeda into the upper town. It is 728 m long and 24 m high in places. It was used for watersupply until weel into the 19th century.

Magnific point of view and composition to aqueduct. I like strong contrast between building and dark blue sky. Very well framed.

Très beau cliché de cet acqueduc imposant qui laisse deviner la ville derrière. Le format en hauteur nous fait apprécier l'importance de la construction. J'ai l'impression que celà n'était pas une photo facile à réaliser et tu t'en sors bien.

Pas mal cette vue au travers de l'aqueduc, l'inclusion de la lampe a l'avant plan est judicieuse, j'aurais juste préféré avoir l'aqueduc en entier ou sans le ciel à droite.

Hi John.
I live in Avila (63 kms. far from Segovia) and i know this town veru well. You have don a very representative picture of this towm, well composed and with wonderfull colors, your high POV is very good, it is a little bit tired to go upstairs de get the picture from there when sun is up on the sky and warm is not wellcome. The idea of include this street lamp is very good to give deepth to the picture. Congratulations for this nice work.

Dag John,

Een goede vericale foto met al deze bogen, zeer schep genomen zowzel de grote als de kleine bogen, en zelfs de doorkijk met de toren in de achtergrond is goed tezien.
Zou het mogelijk zijn dat de foto een weinig naar links overheld, of ben ik nog niet goed wakker. Bedankt voor uw bezoek.

je me souviens bien de cet aqueduc magnifique dont les dimensions étaient tellement grandes que l'on se demandait comment prendre la photo. Il semble ici que cet angle vertical est bien approprié, et qu'il nous montre l'échelle humaine pour bien comprendre. Superbe lumière.
