[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
So many of the South Islands West Coast beaches are littered with driftwood. Gillespies beach is a particular example - there were HUGE tree trunks all over the beach - it really did resemble a graveyard of these once mighty trees. This trunk in my foreground was around 4 foot tall, just to give you an idea of the scale here.

Makes a nice change from rocks! I am always impressed with the foreground elements you choose, and the way you are able to blend them with the background or other foreground objects to create a harmonious image. I'm also impressed with how you got the most out of that cloudy sky. Excellent work!

What can I say? I like it.
Very good compo and colors.
Very nice exposure that gives that soft look to the waves. Great detail and clarity.

Hello Adam,

Bravo !

Hi Adam,

Driftwood is a fascinating subject and one I often come across living near the coast. The detail on this shot is superb and the contrast in colour works really well.

Best regards,
Paul.

Love the tones in this Adam and the sky is amazing. The far piece of wood is well eerie,i can see a figure resting against the tallest part with left arm crossed over 'her' chest and other arm by her side,or maybe i just need to go to sleep.Marvellous subject, beautifully captured with excellent water movement too.

Hello Adam,

It´s a great shot. Perfect sharpness and beautiful colors.

Hello Adam,
A beautifully composed, and well exposed shot, in Leonardo da Vinci's words, "You need only to observe and ponder, that the commonplace becomes wondrous, and the wondrous commonplace." Choosing washed-up debris to make your subject, against the colors of a compelling sunset/sunrise makes this a most memorable photo,
warm regards,
Bulent

Hej Adam
Like skeleton from an ancient era. A wonderful mixture of organic forms and stone.
You are quite concealed when it comes to details about the photos, I would love to know if you use any filter, time of exposure etc.

Interesting composition with the two three-fingered tree trunks mirroring each others "configuration". I also like the bent paths of the receding water topped by the curved wavefront, all repeated in the clouds - I always wonder if you planned it that way even before you set up the tripod :-)

I got a similar post today, Adam. Although, the driftwood is also present in my post I opted contrary to yours the full daylight exposure. Check it out I'm sure you will like it.
The sense of depth is fabulous here. The fg elements are sharp, vivid and give the impression that I could grasp them. The pastel colors in the bg looks almost movie stage like.

This reminds me of the beach at Cudmore Grove on Mersea Island, here in Essex. Also, of the beach in a park on Amelia Island,Florida in USA. Big driftwood and beaches are very photographable. Good shot, and very interesting too.

Great tones in the sky Adam ,and wonderful exposure timing on the waves.Plus what a super subject to find on the shore. The detail is lovely and the whole composition works extremley well

Looking back through your gallery I stumbled across this amazing shot. This is what I would classify as a perfect landscape photograph. The amount of blur in the water - perfect. The composition - perfect. The sky is amazing and the colors are very nice. This is one of my favorites from you, and I just had to let you know.
Regards,
Ryan

P.S. You should put Utah on your list of places to visit. I’d love to see what you could do with our red rock deserts, and it would add a little variety to your already stunning gallery.
