Photographer’s Note
'Houdt Braef Standt' is the name of this mill built in 1856. It is written in old Dutch and means "keeps standing strong". It is situated in Wilsum close to the IJssel river. This mill is standing much higher then most of the other mills in the Netherlands. The mill is classified as a monument with an important value to the landscape.
It is an eight sided scaffolding mill originally used to grind corn. The bottom section is built of brick stones and the top covered with reed. In 1963 the mill received important parts from an other mill in Hellendoorn and in 1986 it was renovated again. Today parts of the mill are used as a house but still it could also be used for grinding.

Dag, Harko.

Prettig weekend, Henk

Very nice composition and beautifull shades of green in your picture, even on the bottom of the roof of this nice old windmill (probably same moss). The shortened trees (willows also ?) on the side of the pond make a interesting effect, leading the sight to the mill.
All the best,
Emmanuel

Hello Harko

John.

Hi Harko,
Beautifull mill, its dark color wall contrast very well with the blue and green on the ladnscape. Wonderfull composition including the tree on the left as a natural frame for the scene and the little 'river' to guide our eyes to the mill. Love the square format as well.
Best Regards,
Flavia

Hi Harko,
wonderfully composed image with the mill well placed in the frame, the light is lovely and the colours are good, though I would prefer them a little deeper, but that's only a personal preference and doesn't detract from the overall beauty of the image. I wonder what lucky people live here? A fine capture, well seen.

Stephen

Hi Harko,
This really resembles a few centuries old painting - of course, if we forget about little details such as a parked car :)) Nevertheless it is very nice to know that such places are still well preserved.
The shot is well composed, with the windmill to the right, surrounded by delicate green colour of early spring.

Hi Harko,
This one is really beautiful for the hill, for the colors of the grass, for the composition very clever. The feeling produced is calm and relax. It's a pleasure to see it! Thanks.

I like the square frame of this. It's a wonderfully bucolic scene... very peaceful. The only problem I have with it are those bare branches creeping into the top corner of the frame. I've edited these out in a simple workshop. What do you think?
