Photographer’s Note

This was taken in my favourite beef noodle soup joint in Bangkok. It used to be my second favourite, but since my most favourite noodle soup shop (just a few doors away) was closed (likely to make room for yet another guest house or travel agent), this has become my new favourite.

The shop is on Thanon Phra Athit, which runs parallel to the Chao Phraya River in Banglamphoo. They serve a number of dishes, but specialize in beef noodle soup, Thai coffee and Chinese donuts (pah tahng koh), and dim sum. A great place to eat any time of the day.

The atmosphere in this shop is great. The front opens to the street and there's always something going on. It's never quiet.

I don't think that this photo would have been as interesting if the wok on the left had just been a plain pot. Also, the somewhat drabness of the place is offset by the splashes of colour and small points of interest ... the woman's pink cheeks and top, the green menu on the wall, and the ancient framed restaurant review above her head.

For the food: Highly Recommended. A small menu, but what they make they make well.

Note: Reposted. Tidied up using NeatImage, magenta and yellow saturation up 3 and 5 respectively, frame added.
