Photographer’s Note
In Fes, the tanneries are located near Wadi Fes. The hides of sheep, goats, cows and camels undergo several processes - including the removal of hair and flesh, followed by soaking in vats, then by drying and rinsing - before they are ready to be dyed and handed over to leatherworkers.
natural pigments, obtained from certain plants and minerals, are still used by Moroccan craftsmen to colour the hides.

Hi Tatiana,
stunning picture! I love the textures of the walls, the yellowred leathers and the colorful pigments. Like a painting. Very good work!

A city full of colors, but full of a very bad smell too in this area. I like the composition with the tanks of color in the center, on the right the drying area and in backgroung the city.
Well done,
Cheers,

Very sharp photo. Quite interesting subject. I liked the natural colourful surrounding. It is good that you did not oversaturated it, it never feels natural and beautiful that way.
Thanks for sharing...

Good light for this place and subject. It seems to bring out the colors nicely. Congratulations! :)

This is a VERY good POV !
It's a lovely shot, as you took also a picture of the city, not only focusing on the tanneries.

Always wanted to go and see these, prehaps this winter. A very nice photo of this traditional work and a very good pov though I think if you cropped the sky it would enhance the image but thats for my tastes. Excecellant work

An interesting documentary shot, Tanya - I never realised they could produce so many different shades of brown from all the minerals. The hides are certainly a strange colour at this stage of the tanning. Well composed and technically a very good image too. . Cheers . . . David
PS: I don't agree with Simon above that you should have cropped the sky out. I would only do that if it was over-exposed or very washed out. Leaving a small amount of the sky in, as you have done, helps to give the image depth.
