Photographer’s Note
Here's my way to see this piece of paradise which is Blachford Lake (near Yellowknife). Sorry for the murky atmosphere, but this is the result of 5 month none stop of working in the bush. Unfortunately, my mental state don't let me apreciate the amazing color consequence of the northern sun of north-west territories.So here's a foogy day ( for the early break-up)due to the warm temperature of the ambiant air and the cold temperature of the ice who still covers the whole Lake. Add that to a rainy day and you have this off-beat landscape compare to the postal card picture that we use to have here.
I use HDR tone mapping process (decreasing of the color saturation)for this picture

The colour scheme here is a complment towards the eeiry ans desolate landscape you have so aptly presented. Lessening the colour and decreasing the saturation has made this a really moody picture detailing some form of isolation. Well done with it.

An excellent picture, unusual, well composed, and with superb tones. I like it very much.
But I'm not really convinced by the HDR process : The halo around the subjects are disturbing.
I would like to see the same picture with another post processing.

Hi Virgile;
I commend your attempt at an HDR 'type' shot. The only way to learn and grow as a photographer is by experimenting.
The main key to HDR (like an form of post production) is that it should be un-detectable. Post production should be so good- that you don't even notice it's there (Such as this HDR shot).
The majority of your image is quite dark yet the snow (highlights) around the barrels is substantially brighter then the highlights anywhere else in the image... resulting in an 'unnatural' looking image.
Good composition, but personally- I'd work on the PP a bit more...
Best of luck,
- Dan

Virgile,
Amicalement - Michel
