Photographer’s Note
On what to Americans is referred to as D-Day, the date of the invasion at Normandy sixty years ago, I decided to visit Fort Baker on the shore of San Francisco Bay immediately to the east of the Golden Gate Bridge. The Fort has been included in the Golden Gate National Recreation Area and is open to the public. The site offers dramatic views of the bridge, the bay, San Franciso to the south and Alcatraz to the east. I'll likely post a number of images from my rambling that day. It is also a favorite with local fishermen and women.
My nature being what it is, however, I chose not to post one of the grand vistas to be captured along the shore, but an image I nearly stumbled over as I walked past the retired and tired shed that houses the Presidio Yacht Club. Adjacent to the club is a workshop in which boat repairs are done. The steel track running between these well worn boards is one of a pair used to transport vessels lifted from the harbor serving the Fort to the workshop. I looked down and there it was. Perhaps I'll never post another beautiful vista, since my eye eternally seeks out these small pieces of the world we inhabit. Only time will tell... ;-)
For anyone interested in Fort Baker, I've included the following link. Enjoy!

a very good shot in which we can see the smallest texture of the wood & compared to the vertical steel frame, the horizontal "forms" & parts are so interesting. the composition which you've reached here is unique & I like it a lot.the line of nalils is really nice to !

Another one of your graphism I like, Curtis.
Simple, but with a real festival of lines and textures.
Maybe one little thing for me : the wood is just a bit over-exposed and maybe can you darken it on post-processing.
Excellent !

Beautiful tone and pattern both in the wood and metal. Well composed – and I like how those black lines makes the composition stronger.
Simple and beautiful – but I think something missing...

The shadow effects in this one are very powerfull, because the light on the wodd and rusty pipe is perfect but the shadows are black, it makes it kind of dramatic. Again as with your much discussed picture of rust and wood from last week, the wood apeals alot more to me than rust - very good detail, and well seen.

Light works perfect with your fantastic rexture here, Curtis, The wood and the rust always make good compositions together, but in this case, excellent one. Very good shot, Curtis.

I like the note and the image is sharp, full of good colour contrast and goes to make a fine composition IMHO :)
