Delicate Arch is a freestanding natural arch located in Arches National Park near Moab, Utah, USA.

It is the most widely-recognized landmark in Arches National Park and is depicted on both Utah license plates and a postage stamp commemorating Utah's centennial anniversary of statehood in 1996. The Olympic torch relay for the 2002 Winter Olympics passed through the arch.

Arches National Park preserves over 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the world-famous Delicate Arch, in addition to a variety of unique geological resources and formations.

The park is located near Moab, Utah, and is 119 square miles (309 kmē) in size. Its highest elevation is 5,653 feet (1,723 m) at Elephant Butte and its lowest elevation is 4,085 feet (1,245 m) at the visitor center. Since 1970, 42 arches have toppled because of erosion. Arches National Park also receives 10 inches (250 mm) of rain a year on average.

The area, administered by the National Park Service, was originally designated as a national monument on April 12, 1929. It was redesignated a national park on November 12, 1971. More than 730,000 people visited it in 2004.

Cool arch. I like the overall feeling of sloping of the rocks toward the right hand side. Are those people sitting to the left of the arch? If so, it really gives one a sense of the grand scale of the landmarks.

Hello Henryk,
What great subdued colors and lighting offered by the overcast! I have not been here, yet, Excellent shot...
Steve

very fine image. like the distance between the viewer and the arch. maybe wish for a slightly lower camera angle so the la salles (snow capped peaks) were visible under the are also. color focus and composition are all wonderful.

bonjour henryk
merci pour cette image et pour le travail sur ma note.
A+

It looks like the shadows are starting to lengthen but are muted due to the clouds. The clouds appear a little blown right of the arch. How was the color at sunset. With that sky it looks like it should have been a winner.
