Photographer’s Note

My first night shot using only natural light. I was amazed at the moons reflection on the water so I tried to capture it, thought it wouldn't fire cause it's a bit dark, but it worked!

The reflection on the water is excellent and the colour of the clouds on the sky as well. What imho does not work is the framing of the picture on the top by some part of the roof (?). I think that making few steps ahead would really make a difference.

you do have the good eye for artistic shots... this is a good one. excellent capture of the moon's reflection on the sea. try putting your camera on night mode next time, or use slow shutter speed (better with a tripod), and you will be delighted with the results! tfs :)

the only little thing what is disturbing are the leaves from rhe roof or palmtree?

the colors are great.I'm asking me why the sand is so red?it gives to the photo a very nice coloured splash.I also like the cloudy sky and the moon's reflection on the water.A really beautifukl composition.

Hi Claire,

Well seen and well shot! The hay on the roof is adding to the mood of the shot. Understand you have used a flash. May have turned out better if you had not caught the reflection there. However, I would have cropped out the the object in the bottom left though.

An otherwise un-interesting moon shot has turned out quite well because of the foreground interest. Slight blur. Did you use a tripod?

Your flash sure did work, it added something to thoes leaves uptop... Great choice... Everything else is just so light up by the mooon it makes it magical. I love this one!!!

Hi Claire,

Another Philippine lover! Well, who doesn't? ;-) Just going through your recent pictures. I like this one, since it has a good mood to it!
The framing works, but not with the top of the picture. Personally, I think I would not have used the flash, but would have taken it from tripod. Perhaps impossible from this height ;-). Or perhaps put it to -2 in flash intensity, or just a white piece of paper in front of it to diffuse!
But still a nice picture!

Romantic mood in this superb take!
Skies look dramatic and reflexions on water are quite attractive.
I would have prefer, though, a slight darkening of overexposed hanging straws.

Interesting light situation, and you manage fairly well!
The shimmering water comes out nicely, so does the artificially lit sand...
What IMHO isn't that good is the straws in top, a distraction you could avoid by one step forward!

Salut Claire,
d'abord chouette une Américaine qui parle français, je ne serais pas obligé de faire une mauvaise traduction...La composition est superbe avec les petites branches dans le haut et les nuages qui masquent un peu la lune qui est un astre trés difficile à prendre en photo. C'est dommage pour le piqué et comme on te la déja conseillé il vaut mieux sortir le tripod pour ce genre de photo.
