Trips: you've been in S.Asia of late? Perfect light, masterful sharpness, and germane culturally - all make this a fine image. best, c

A very effective shot with this golden wash of sunlight. The boat has interesting patterns and the guys at work make for a great daily life shot. Do you recommend a trip to Bangladesh? I thought the lack of tourists and friendly curiousity of the Bangladeshi's sounded intriguing...
David.

Great color and framing. Nice to see photos like this that are other than typical tourist photos.

Very nice how you bring the colours out in the otherwise rather dark environment. It's a well composed picture. Thanks for sharing! Dennis

Une magnifique photo, Bob! La lumière est extraordinaire et magnifie les couleurs. De plus, c'est une "image témoignage" très intéressante. Superbe!

Well, orange and blue will always work Bob - well spotted. I'm still trying to figure out whether this actually was taken late in the day or not. The shadows seem pretty horizontal, but that in itself isn't a great guide here as the guys are so close to the boat. The sea of orange certainly gives a strong impression of a late afternoon shot, so even if it isn't you've done a good job of faking it ;)
The part of the composition that kind of troubles me is the shallow DOF. A scene like this depends on a sense of place, so using the shorter DOF to blur out the foreground makes the shot lose something. Isolating the subject like this gives the impression of the use of a long lens to 'spy'. As a result, I've added a workshop which goes for a different crop - there's no rule that says you have to keep the image that your camera gave you. The workshop loses the environment and instead becomes more of a color study - I just thought it would be interesting to see what else you can do with the image.
Finally - what purpose is served in scraping rust off a ship's hull? Do they simply do it for aesthetic reasons?

Splendid colours, reflected in the water so perfectly... This photo speaks to me specially, as I went 3 times in Bangladesh and loved to travel by boat along the rivers !
Bravo,
Cath.

You have been there at the right time of day. I think this is a great shot of the people, but some of the detail on the boat would have also been a good subject.

Hi Bob
Really nice contrasts in the colors here, and the afternoon light helps as well.
A good sharp colorful scene!
