Photographer’s Note

This is another photo I took while vacationing in Thailand in 2006.

I woke up early for Sunrise and met a local fisherman with his catch of the day: cuttlefish, marlin fish and other fishes I don't know.

I stayed at Chomphon Cabana resort which located right on this beach, on the Gulf of Thailand. This is an eco-friendly resort and they even their own vegetables. Most tourists choose for Phuket which is also very beautiful but can be very busy during high-seasons. Chumphon is somewhat forgotten and overlooked. Their only airport is just closed due to low traffic. It's about 5 hours (by car) away South of Bangkok. I really had a great quiet time and can't wait to go back this Christmas.

I love the exposure here Nap, perfectly chosen. Excellent composition too. The only minor flaw if the appearance of a curved horizon.

Hello Nap,
I kind of like how the light is distributed in this one. You know, less light on the left and the more you go to the right the more light there is. I like how you keep the fisherman in the shadow, there is no need to see his face as his identity is completely accesory in the compo. Very well balanced shot, it gives me a good feeling.

The light is wonderful and well worth getting up early for. I love the long shadows and how the light is catching the nets as he spreads them out. Well done.

Hi Nap, I like the soft evening light and the long shadows in this one. The man's silhouette came out really sharp and there's interesting detail in the net, fish etc. The bag in the foreground is slightly distracting, but there's not much to be done about that. Good work! Regards,

This is a lovely portrait of a daily life of a local fisherman. Interesting variety of catch there too. Though Chumphon is not as popular as Phuket, could also be good in such a way to preserve such place. The quaintness of the Chumphon makes it special as well though sometimes people need to use tourism as their livelyhood. TFS Nap!
