Photographer’s Note
Small, low powered motorcycles such as this one are widely used as day to day transportation in Mauritius. The reason is obvious - They're cheap to buy, cheap to run, easy to park and are more convenient than buses. Just climb on, no need to worry about safety gear other than a helmet and off you go.
My intention here was a panning shot but as you can see it hasn't quite worked out too well. The bike's headlight is perfectly sharp but the two riders are not. Oh well, technical issues aside I still think it's a fairly decent photo of daily life so here it is.
Shot somewhere around Triolet, the largest village in the Pamplemousses district. It is situated a short distance north of the capital Port Louis.

The headlight being in focus withthe back of the bike out of focus gives the impression of depth wonderfully. A happy mistake perhaps. I almost expect to see the front wheel coming out of the frame. I'm also taken with the casual nature of the rider as the way the image is treated, it looks like they're moving at 100 miles per hour and she looks like she's ready to fall asleep back there. I think the lack of focus on the back of the bike works very nicely.

J'adore l'ambiance de ta photo. L'effet de flou aurait été parfait à mon gout si la netteté s'était trouvé sur les visages.
Les couleurs sont très belles.
