bosphorus night view Photo

Photographer’s Note

a view from my school again,where we drink in long summer nights :)
i would like to catch the moment that half of the bridge lights on and the rest off when electricity cut off in european side for a short while. :)

here is what wikipedia says for this pretty bridge:

''It is 1,560 m long with a deck width of 39 m. The distance between the towers (main span) is 1,074 m (World rank: 13th) and their height over road level is 105 m. The clearance of the bridge from sea level is 64 m. It was the 4th longest suspension bridge in the world when completed in 1973, and the longest outside the United States of America''

Hello Leyla,
You photo is good but I feel that a longer exposure which caught more of the available ("ambient") light would have been much more vibrant and would have captured more of the details that were lost in the shadows. I have been a photographer for twenty years now and I had to learn this from hard experience. You are very wise to use a tripod. Try extendending the exposure time (without overexposing the photo). If you look at my "Cincinnati Skyline" photo you can see that I used a longer exposure (about 4 seconds at F/16) and the subtle reflections of the buildings on the river were captured here. I generally add at least one stop more than the meter suggests. Old pros call this technique "capturing the ambient light." You have talent. Let me know if my suggestion is helpful. This is still a very good photo however.

how beautiful night view from petekler!u seem you had nice time there:)...lights are like stars in a dark sky..very atmosferic composition,just i wonder if a biiiit brighter would be helpful:)

This is a great night shot.
You wrote in your note to me that you suffered from bright spots. This photo has no issues with that at all!
Keep in up. It's all in the shutter speed.

Hi Leyla, oh yes ! You have few pictures in your gallery but excellent one ! I wish you to keep on posting more pictures, for sure i will have a look on them. I pick this one but i could have stopped on the "puzzle impossible" one, but here technically this is better, at F8 and for sure more than 5 sec in shutter speed, your vantage POV let us admire this wonderful city that is istanbul.
