Photographer’s Note
On the evening of Easter Sunday, as in much more places, "Paasvuren" (=Easterfires) are lit traditionally in the eastern part of the Netherlands, Twente.

It is supposed to be a very old tradition going back to pre-christian times.
This particular one is lit in the "backyard" of my parents in law...
I didn't bring my tripod, so had to kneel down and took quite a few pictures of the fire surrounded by people from the neighborhood. This picture also shows the planet Venus as a bright evening star in the centre of the frame.
I didn't enhance the picture in any way, nor cropped it. Just wanted to show it and see what you think of it...

Hoi Michiel,
Deze foto doet herinneringen opkomen van de paasvuren in Deurningen waar we heen gingen vanuit Hengelo. Ik was gisteren in Twente en je zag op allerlei plaatsen de paasvuren nog nasmeulen en ruiken. Ik woon inmiddels aan de andere kant van het land en kom dus niet meer zo vaak in het oosten.
