Photographer’s Note
a scenic catholic chapel built into the mesas of sedona, designed by architect Marguerite Brunswig Staude and Frank Lloyd Wright in 1956 and completed a year after. rising 200 feet from the ground between two large red rock formations. one of the distinctive features is a 90-foot cross, which can be seen from the ground along state route 179. a massive stained-glass window turns the chapel's interior into a kaleidoscope of colors at certain times of the day.
located at 780 chapel road, sedona city, arizona, USA.
i was to upload this yesterday april 1, 2007 in time for palm sunday, however i arrived home from the weekend break a little too late @ 0030H and was extremely tired from the 6-hour drive, phoenix to LA.
i wish everyone a blessed easter.

Un monument très impressionnant..mais je me demande ce qu'il fait ici?...pour mon avis personnel il dénature ce superbe site...
merci de le montrer.
Un bon cdrage avec des couleurs chaudes.

Hi Benedict,
It is a fantastic piece of architecture and you captured it very nicely by putting the cliff on the diagonal and the chapel on the third. The contrast of the earth colours with the deep blue sky and the clarity and sharpness make it very eye catching.
Regards, José.

A vey beautiful shot of this architecturally imposing structure. This church was completed when I was second year college. I admire its design all the time. TFS.

This is quite an interesting piece of architecture. I would love to see it's interior with its kaleidoscope of colors (I hope that you went there and took some shots for us...;-)
The shot is very well taken, with wonderful strong colors and a well composed image. Love the contrast of that simple but strong shape with the red rock scenery.
A blessed easter to you too, Benedict.

Hi Benedict,
Thanks for posting this. I have always been a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright. Great contrast of the chapel and red rocks against the blue sky. Happy Easter, Danilo

Sanctus Benedictus in Specius Ongus,
Tell me, what kind of a chapel is this? Where are the domes, where are the spires, where are the angels, where are the frescoes??? I am just helpless looking at this architectural "marvel!!!" after seeing its grand ancestors in Rome. Tell me Sanctus, how far can architecture descend? You just made me happy that i am not the designer of this wall.
Wonderful POV, sharpness and colors btw. Great photo!
Cheers,
Deniz

Quite an amazing gallery you have! And this is truly the best selection for Easter! excellent PoV: really shows how the architect managed to meld the building with its natural environment: very Frank Lloyd Wright! (Which makes sense since Marguerite Brunswig Staude was his student.)
What we have is a chapel to the divine, inspired by what the divine created: a beautiful memorial in its own right (no pun intended).
