Photographers Note
hagia sophia (aya sofia) is one of the greatest surviving examples of Byzantine architecture. located at the heart of istanbul this huge cathedral was built in 6th century. the dome was unmatched for its diameter for centuries. the building was captured by turks in 1453 and converted to a mosque (now serves as a museum). according to islam, there shouldnt be any human figures in a mosque, therefore, the frescoes, iconas, and mozaics were not destroyed, but only removed to another building or covered cement. you can explore this museum today and see many of those state of the art mosaics.
on the green plates are written the name of four caliphs. those plates are so huge (compare with people inside) they had to be built inside.
the building was burnt down by its own people (nika riot) in 532, was looted by latins during crusades, was desroyed by earthquakes. however it is so mighty and beautiful it lived on until today.

hello mustafa.it`s a huge structure indeed.
your photo has excellent composition because it lets the viewer
guess the size of the building compared to all those visitors inside.
good light because i can guess it`s a difficult environment in that sense.
TFS and have a nice week,
oana

the building itself is an art already- so beautiffully captured with distinct byzantinian appeal from points A to Z. i would ad a little touch of brightness, tho.
cheers to you from LA.

Hi Mustafa,
Beautiful architecture... they surely know how to construct buildings in the old times. Well composed ... inclusion of people in the photo gives the scene some dimension as to the size of the place. Well done ... tfs

Hi Mustafa,
You have managed well with the low light conditions to show us this impressive interior. It looks like a magnificent structure. You have got some nice details, and the people give us a good idea of the massive size.
Regards
Wanda

Merabah Mustafa,
Nice inside view of Agia Sofia.
I guess the conditions were difficult(poor light).
So, you managed it well!
Well done!
