Photographer’s Note

The Canal du Midi was built between 1666 and 1681, under the reign of Louis XIV and under the supervision of engineer Pierre-Paul Riquet. It runs 241 km from Marseillan on the Mediterrean to Bordeaux on the Atlantic. It took some 12000 workers to build the 126 bridges, 63 locks, 55 aqueducts and 6 dams over those 15 years. Average depth is 2m; average span 20m.
Thomas Jefferson came to study this canal in 1789 and hoped to make a similar one from the Potomac to Lake Erie. He never did.
A private canal boat on this waterway is just about the most relaxing way to go!

Beautiful shot of Canal du Midi, but (and it's only a suggestion), have you thought how the image would be seen if you were cropping a little above and down, and transform this photo into a panoramic view?...I think it' would be...Woooww!. Let me know in case you try it!
