I took this picture while I hiked to the base of a mountain in a remote section of the Canadian Rockies. What I want to show here are the effects of Global Warming and the beauty of this area. Not many hikers venture into this area. The day I took this picture we didn't see anyone else coming or going all day long. We climbed our mountain and the only sounds we could hear were the wind, rocks falling and some animals and birds. It was also a long day as we left the car at 7am and came back after 10pm.
As for the glaciers, the area you see on the foreground used to be covered in ice. In recent years, glaciers have retreated very quickly and very soon many will disappear completely. This will create shortages of water in many places and flora and fauna will either disappear or adapt to changing conditions.

Hello Robert,
Joli panorama de ces glaciers. De belles couleurs et de bons contrastes entre pierre et neige, le tout sous une bonne lumière.
Le pov est bien choisi.
Best regards
Denise

Hi Roberto,
impressing composition of rocks and snow. I like the clear lines of the creeks where melting snow disappears and the textures on rock and snow. The effect you tell us about is similar to what we have in Europe, but in the last years they have detected that the glaciers in the Alps were also very much smaller several hundred years before. The melting discovered clear traces which were not expected. Therefore they are a bit unsure at the moment (for the European ones) about the reason.

Hello Roberto,
A nice picture taken form a good point of view.
The retreating of Glaciers is very impressive here!
Greetings.
Igor

Hello Roberto,
you enjoy your sport and you show it to all of us. Your sensitivity about nature is also obvious. We have many times been alone on mountains and we like it. Spectacular demonstration of nature, indeed. Gorgeous landscape, well done.
My warmest wishes.
Athanasios.

A very stunning photo of a beautiful landscape. The light and colours are awesome. Very well composed image!

Hi Roberto,
It is a good view of that harsh beauty. It is very sad to know what is happening.
Regards, José.

Hi Roberto,

your note was interesting and I suppose the loss of these glaciers will be a blow to the area but as you say, and as has happened throughout time, plants and animals will adapt to the changes in the environment, let's hope it will be a change for the better. I like your pov for this shot, the colours, sharpness and contrasts are all very good too. Another quality post my friend, well done.

Regards

Stephen

Ps. I've just noticed the 'new' photograph of Madison, children sure do grow up quickly don't they?

Hi Roberto
Interesting view at this retreating glacier. It is a pity, but we probably must throw out our skies...:/

Hola Roberto,
I envy your ability to get yourself away from all traces of civilization. In Alaska, even with hiking, there are the little planes buzzing around, flight-seeing it's called. A beatiful picture but a depressing reality. It is one that is necesary for us to consider each day as we make choices about our own contributions to global warming. HLJ, Pat

Hi Roberto,
Very good note about this subject. Excellent picture of the Glaciers with very good POV, colours and sharpness

amazing place, very nicely captured, Roberto
the glacier is wonderful
the notes also excellent
very well done

In Austria we also have some good examples in the Alps which show the effect of global warming. It´s really time to stop the climate change (If it´s not to late). Thanks for the picure and the interesting note.

Bonsoir Roberto,
A very nice one.
Great sharpness, and impressive POV.
I like your note too, emphasizing an actual important problem.
Regards,
JB.

Hello Roberto,
Your beautiful image is as well very interesting beacause of what it demonstrates. I am as well very concerned by global warming and the same happens in the French Alps for places I have been knowing for 40 years. I do not agree with the explanations saying that we are unsure of what is causing this... It is not true any more for 2 or 3 years and the science communauty now agrees to say that this is really caused by global warming.
Thanks for your testimonial.
Best regards, Christian

Hi Roberto,
More glorious Canadian scenery. How perfect are these snow covered mountains. Your image is of superb quality yet again. Thank you so much for sharing.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hi Roberto,

Hello Roberto
What a place this must be! The retreating glaciers are very evident as one can see the deep etches in the FG rocks where these mighty rivers of ice, once flowed. Your photograph is a good evidence of global warming
